Father John Misty – I Love You, Honeybear (2015 EU)
Clean, open, detailed & transparent
Engrossing & clear vocals
Vocals have beautiful tones
Not very well resolved bottom ends
Slightly flat at times
Ordinary dynamic range
For a 45 rpm pressing, I certainly expect a very high quality sound from the 2015 EU release of Father John Misty’s second album I Love You, Honeybear on Bella Union.
Overall the sound is clean, open, have good amount of details and good transparency. But I am more than a little disappointed with its dynamic range and depth and find them pretty ordinary. I also findd some of the songs slightly congested, for example True Affection and The Ideal Husband… But The Night Josh Tillman Came To Our Apt. and When You’re Smiling And Astride Me sounded very good. So it is a bit inconsistent…
Piano and drums are not full body sound as I expected and slightly recessed but shakers sounded quite soft and light.
